Anthony Rose to join two brothers at JMU
Lancer standout football player Anthony Rose will be joining his two brothers, Peter and Jon, at James Madison University in Harrisonburg. Rose, joined by his parents, John and Mary Rose, signed a letter of intent on March 4 to play for the Dukes. Also at Rose’s side was head coach Cecil Phillps.
Crusaders end season in final four of tourney and with 14-3 record
The Temple Christian School girls varsity team won its last game of the season to finish third in Virginia Association of Christian Athletics state play with a 14-3 record. The Crusaders topped Grace Christian 39-36 in the state consolation game.

Former Lancer wins at ODAC championships
Lacear Hubbard wasted no time fitting in with the college track world. The former Lancer track standout won first place in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference champion-ships in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 2½ inches.
Crusaders girls basketball falls to Warriors
The Virginia Association of Christian Athletics regional championships on Feb. 27 in Roanoke pitted the two No. 1 seeds, Temple Christian School against Faith Christian Academy.
Morse wins two state track titles, helps Lancers finish third
Amherst County’s Terrance Morse put the Lancer team on his back and carried them to a third place win in the group AA state championships held Feb. 27 at Liberty University.

Undefeated Crusaders win regional crown
Temple Middle School basketball went undefeated, won an invitational tournament held at Faith Christian School, and won the regional Virginia Association of Christian Athletics tournament last weekend at Timberlake Christian School.

Lady Lancers lose to Lady Govs
The Amherst girls basketball team is still seeking a win this season and got one more tuneup before the start of this week’s Seminole District tournament when they hosted Nelson County on Saturday and lost 47-35.
Amherst boys fall to Nelson
With district tournaments looming, Amherst hosted Nelson County Saturday as a final tune-up for each team and the Governors made the most of their opportunity to come away with some added confidence by cruising past the Lancers 63-46.
Crusaders split games
The Temple Crusaders boys team, coming off a high-scoring affair against Shenandoah Valley last week, fell to Faith Christian 85-60 on Feb.15.

Lancers seize more wins
The frigid weather could not cool off the hot shooting of Amherst County’s Tyler Brown as he burned the nets for 17 points. He led the Lancers to a 71-45 Seminole District win over Rustburg on Feb. 8.

Girls’ winning streak snapped, boys win in OT
The Timberlake Christian Tornadoes spoiled the Temple Christian Crusaders girls’ perfect record on Jan. 26 with a 36-33 VACA win. The winners were lead by Danielle Alley’s 24 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks.
Lady Lancers yield to the Lady Govs, 52-26
The Amherst girls basketball team continued with its struggles this season, falling 52-26 to Nelson County in Lovingston last week.

John Dews hit his second game-winning shot in a week, drilling a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Amherst JV squad a 67-66 victory over Liberty on Jan 19.

Junior Varsity amasses wins
Monday, Jan 11th, John Dews scored with 1.2 seconds left to give Amherst a 37-35 victory over Jefferson Forest on Jan. 11. Dews led Amherst with 11 points, Floyd added 10. Amherst improved to 5-1 on the season.

The Brookville Bees varsity boys basketball team came into Amherst Monday night with a 4-4 record. The Lancers were sitting on an undefeated record –– actually, the Amherst team had yet to play a game.

Results split in boys, girls basketball games against Nelson County
Nelson County and Amherst split a girls and boys junior varsity basketball doubleheader at Amherst last Thursday. The Governors won the girls game 30-13, but Lancers bounced back in the boys’ game to take the nightcap 44-20 as 10 Amherst players scored.
Lancers look to championship rematch against Broad Run

After beating Spotswood, Amherst to host Harrisonburg in regional championship

Youth football title game: Amherst falls in final
The Amherst Wolverines Mites team lost a close 6-0 game on Nov. 14 in the championship against Rustburg. The Red Devils avenged an earlier-season loss to the Amherst squad, which beat them with the same score. The young athletes got to play at Lancer stadium and got a small taste of turf action.
