Umpire Greg Howard called Lancer runner Marcus Thomas out on this tag by Heritage’s Trevor Stevens. Amherst coach Mike Padgett questioned the play but after a quick meeting with the other two umpires the call stood. The Lancers lost 5-4, ending their season.

The Amherst Lancers baseball season ended Monday at the hands of the Heritage Pioneers.
The Seminole District 5-4 quarterfinal loss gave the Lancers an 8-8 record.
Pioneer pitcher James Womack picked up the win while Cody Stinnett was tagged with the loss.
Ten days ago on the same field against the Pioneers, it was the Lancers who came from behind for the win.
In Monday’s tourney action, the Lancers had a 4-1 lead after two innings but back-to-back two-run spurts by the Pioneers in the fourth and fifth innings were enough for the Pioneers to win.
Heritage advanced to play the Rustburg Red Devils Wednesday at Jefferson Forest.
The Lancers were led by Chris McDaniel and Jesse Whitt as both Amherst hitters went two for four.
Trevor Woodson showed off his speed twice with stolen bases for the Amherst squad.
