Cauline P. Armintrout
Cauline (Peggy) Armintrout, 81, of Amherst died Jan. 27. Peggy was born April 20, 1928 in Griggsville, Ill.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 62 years, Cecil Armintrout; her children, Joe Armintrout of Coco Beach, Fla., Teresa Hrabe and husband, Bill, of Alexandria, Diane (Maggie) Stack of Ashburn, and Babs Rountree and husband, Bailey of Smithfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian, Jennifer, Kim, April, Kenny, and Julie, and six great grandchildren. Peggy has elected to donate her body for medical research.
Graveside services, to be conducted at a later date, will be announced.

Corinne Garvin Banton
Katherine Corinne Garvin Banton, 75, of Nottaway County, passed away Jan. 24 at her home. She was the beloved wife of Loy J. Banton for 57 years.
Born Jan. 3, 1935, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Roland and Margaret Marian Lawhorne Garvin and was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry O. Garvin; and a sister, Reaver Garvin Miller. Mrs. Banton spent her early adult years as an employee of Nationwide Insurance in Lynchburg and upon her retirement, began a second career as an employee of the Amherst County court system. She also coauthored a book on the Garvin family genealogy. Mrs. Banton was a lifelong and faithful member of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons Charles “Chuck” Garvin Banton and wife Diana, of Concord, N.C., and Edgar “Ed” Jonathan Banton, of Lunenburg County; two sisters, Virginia Garvin Reeves of Madison Heights and Grace Garvin Brooks of Wilkesboro, N.C., and three grandsons, Craig Garvin Banton, Cameron Martin Banton, and Edgar Roland Banton.
A funeral service was conducted Jan. 27 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with the Rev. John Ragland officiating. Interment followed at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the service, and other times at the home of Jerry and Sara Blondino in Madison Heights.

Louretha Louise Ford
Louretha Louise Ford departed this life Dec. 2 at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg. She was born June 22, 1943, in Lynchburg, to the late Oscar S. Brown Sr. and Hazel L. Brown.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles E. Galloway Jr., and two brothers, Herman L. Brown Sr. and Oscar M. Brown Jr.
Louretha is survived by her husband, William H. Ford Sr. of Madison Heights; one daughter, Alicia Waters (Michael Sr.) of Stafford; two sons, Franklin Brown (Shirley) of Alexandria and James E. Brown Sr. of Manassas; two stepsons, Kirk Ford of Manassas and William Ford Jr. (Janet) of Irving, Texas; one brother, Robert Brown of Madison Heights; one aunt, Mary Johnson of Amherst; three sister-in-laws; one brother-in-law; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service wasconducted Dec. 7 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, Monroe, with Pastor Eugene Henry officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Her remains were in state at the church prior to the service. The family received friends Dec. 6 at Community Funeral Home and other times at 1974 Cedar Gate Road, Madison Heights. The cortege assembled at the home.

Demosthnese Tyrone Morris
Demosthnese Tyrone Morris departed this life Dec. 8 at Lynchburg General Hosptial. He was born March 10, 1952, to the late Rev. Charles K. Morris and Janie Christine Morris.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sylvester James Morris, and two sisters, Mary Melinda Wesley and Doreatha Garland.
He is survived by three brothers, Bishop Frank Morris of Lynchburg, the Rev. Elijah Morris and Hezekiah Morris, both of Madison Heights; two sisters, Dollie Mae Wesley of Madison Heights and Marilyn Ackers of Concord; a devoted companion, Annie Bateman of Concord; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service wasconducted Dec. 11 at Community Funeral Home with Bishop Frank Morris officiating. Interment was in the Baptist Cemetery. The family received friends, and the cortege assembled, at 113 Sweeney Road, Madison Heights.

Luther Lee Reese
Luther Lee Reese, 82, of Amherst and formerly of Lynchburg, passed away Dec. 2 in Fairmont Crossing in Amherst.
Born June 4, 1927, in Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Charles Edward and Thelma Lyla Witt Reese. Luther was a retired employee of the City of Lynchburg with 42 years service. Having attended Thomas Road Baptist Church for many years, in his later years, he attended Temple Baptist Church.
Luther is survived by two nephews, Tony Reese and wife, Teresa, of Madison Heights and Joey Reese of Piney River; four great-nieces, Missy Irvine and husband, Jamie, Jenette Reyes and husband, Juan, Michelle Reese and Leeora Reese; two great-nephews, Scott Reese and Kirk Parker; two great-great-nephews, Michael Irvine and Ashford Reyes; and two special family members, Pam Reese and Paula Pugh.
A memorial service was held Dec. 5 in the fellowship hall at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor J.D. Surbaugh officiating.

Rev. Lyman Thomas Richardson
The Rev. Lyman Thomas Richardson departed this life Dec. 7 at Fairmont Crossing, Amherst. He was born June 19, 1916, in Amherst County, to the late James D. Richardson Jr. and Mary Carpenter Richardson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa G. Thomas; two brothers, Norman and Cordie Richardson; and one infant daughter.
He is survived by his lovely wife, Emma Hendrix Richardson; his son, David T. Richardson Sr. (Nora); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was conducted Dec. 12 at Piney Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Rucker officiating and the Rev. Lorenza Otey as eulogist. Interment was in the church cemetery. His remains were in state at the church prior to the service. The family received friends, and the cortege assembled, at 355 Panther Mountain Road, Amherst.

Dollie Fitzgerald Ennis White
Dollie Fitzgerald Ennis White, 90, of Amherst, died Dec. 5 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Twice married, she was the wife of the late Lawrence Edward Ennis and the late Thomas J. White.
Born Jan. 17, 1919 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Curtis and Nancy Jane Bryant Fitzgerald. She was a retired supervisor with Holiday Inn, with 21 years of service. Mrs. White was a member of Eternal Baptist Church.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Lloyd E. Ennis; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. White is survived by three sons, James E. Ennis and companion, Laura Tyree, Wayne B. Ennis and wife, Juanita, all of Madison Heights, and Lawrence F. Ennis, of Amherst; two daughters, Marian L. Hunt and Regina D. Wrenn and husband, Michael, all of Amherst; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren, and many special nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service was conducted Dec. 8 at Whitten Monelison Chapel, with the Rev. Sidney Wade officiating. Interment followed in Fort Hill Memorial Park.

Evelyn Mae Ponton Wright
Evelyn Mae Ponton Wright, 94, of Arrington, died Dec. 2. She was the wife of the late Walter L. Wright Sr. Born Sept. 19, 1915, in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late Agnes Evans Ponton and the late Jesse Ponton.
She is survived by her son, Walter L. Wright Jr. of Madison Heights; her grandchildren, Jacqueline W. Graham and husband, Mark, of Leesburg, Vicki W. Gillespie of Madison Heights, Gary L. Morris and wife, Tammy, of Roseland, Lisa Tesh and Jimmy Tesh, both of Maryland, and Johnny Tesh of Texas; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Agnes Wright Tesh; her brother, Marvin D. Ponton; and her daughter-in-law, Sandra M. Wright.
Evelyn was a member of Woodland Baptist Church since 1940. She was always very active in her church, having served for 23 years as church clerk and president of the WMU for 11 years, and she also taught the children’s Sunday school class and Bible school for many years. Evelyn was also a member of the Colleen Homemaker’s Club.
The family received friends Dec. 4 at Woodland Baptist Church and other times at the home of her son, Walter L. Wright Jr. A funeral service was conducted Dec. 5 at Woodland Baptist Church with the Rev. John Gordon officiating. Burial followed at the Jonesboro Baptist Church Cemetery.
